Well, I’ve been pretty busy lately ;) and this place got reeeeaaaaally low on my priority list… sorry? XD
These two photos were taken on Balticon, a M&A fan convention which took place two days ago. I will write more about it when I get more photos.

The main reason why I finally decided to move my butt and write something is slightly different:

MiniGolf

Few weeks ago, we were celebrating my friend’s Mizet’s birthday. Doing so on MiniGolf became our little tradition (this was our second time, but hush ;D).
It was sunny and warm and oh so cool. I guess it was first weekend in May with such a good weather. We all had a great time. Hopefully :P. I won’t write much more, I’ll give you photos with captions ;).

Ok, you have the reason for my disappearance in previous entry. My little depression got a little out of hand and it lasted at it full strengh for THREE months.
As a result, I hardly passed my previous year at the College, just because I wasn’t there. How lame is that?
My, um… friends (well, let’s stick with it) even tried to invade my home, but I, kind of, didn’t anwer the door and since I was home alone… well.

I guess I’m better now. Not that my attitude towards the world has changed, but I spent a week in Barcelona in July and what can I say? It’s such a magical place that everyone would feel great there :).
Yes, you can expect a few posts regarding it <3.

Ok, time to be off. I must change this theme >_>.
Oh, I didn’t mention that I started working on RT again? It will be up soon enough ;). As for now I’m in the process of designing. It got more complicated then I intended.
As soon as I come up with something decent (meaning: as I put my idea into PS XD) I will post the screen-caps or something…

It was my very first work ever. In that time I was really shy, but I thought that working as a shop assistant will help me. It did. And here’s the point where good sides of this work end ;D. Now all of you will think I’m such a miserable nagger. For my self-defense I’ll add that I love my new job <3, but we will get back to this later on, shall we?

Back on the subject: let’s make it something like pros and cons of working for Five o’clock.

CONS:
The worse part was my boss. The Boss. The type of guy who would use iPhone not because he needed its options, but because it was expensive here and in that time you couldn’t really buy it in a shop. The type of guy who would travel to China just to take new photos for a broshure and most likely would use the money which had been purposed for his workers merit bonuses, a guy who would not see anything good you did, but will do everything to point your mistakes out and finally someone who dedicated himself to his shops and has no life beside them.
Seems like a great guy, no?
Second thing? The Boss’ closest co-workers. You just wouldn’t believe what kind of a mess they had in their office. Example? Once in a while we had stock-taking. After every and each we had to pay a lot of money, because there were things missing. After a while we started making our own lists of things we got and sold, with amounts and dates. Of course our papers and office’s papers were way different. Fortunately, most of the time we were able to prove that e.g. we didn’t get something or we sent something back because it was broken.
I also liked the camera time. We had a camera in the store, but it wasn’t placed there for security, because the only thing you saw in it was the shop assistant. It was kind of a leash, a way to check how good or, most likely, bad we are.

Ok, enough of this. I’d really be able to write an entire entry on cons only, but let’s just move to pros, because yes! There were some!

PROS:
Money. From my perspective. I know that the Boss was able to pay us more, but still it might have been worse.
Number two: tea became one of my passions and even though I don’t work there anymore I still can’t live without visiting a tea shop every now and then. I was able to try over a hundred of different kinds of tea. Was it worth it? Probably not, but the next thing was ;D.
You know, the domain isn’t named Vihainen/wrathful just because. After some time I wasn’t that shy and afraid of the Boss anymore. I started being quite rebellious, if I didn’t like something I wouldn’t do it. What I mean here is mostly connected with the way the porcelain and other small things were displayed. Like I said before, we were the ones who paid if something was missing so I thought we had a law to put things as we pleased.
In the end the Boss was quite scared of me. When I appeared in the shop he was off even if he’d spent past few hours giving orders to other girls. I remember a situation when there were only the two of us in the shop. I was standing by our Mac, doing nothing and the Boss actually used a check-out. For the first time in his life, probably, and I didn’t even say anything. I just looked at him ;D. Why am I telling this? It doesn’t seem really interesting, does it? Well, few days ealier he had been in a shop with other girl. She went to the toilet and when she got back there were quite few people in a shop and a queue to the check-out. He waited for her return instead of operating the device XD. How lame is that? XD

So that’s pretty much it. I’ll probably add something in the future since I may not remember everything now.
As you can see I added a whole category called Five o’clock. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on adding similar entries anytime soon. I was thinking about writing some Tea-orinted entries. A little bit of theory on where it comes from, how shall we prepare it, differences between each kind and later the most interesting part: reviews ;). Is Darjeeling really so delicious? Is matcha the only kind of Japanese tea? You will find out soon, hopefully :).

[Side note:] I wanted to add this post later, next week probably, but WordPress deleted my draft of the review I mentioned in my first entry x_x. It also deleted a comment I wrote on the same day…
Anyway, I’ll try to get the review done by next week, but my exams are starting this week so I can’t promise anything.

It’s a short summary of what I’ve been up to for the past… 1,5 year. If someone told me that this will keep me so busy I wouldn’t believe it ;).

I study Informatics & Econometrics and my speciality is Computer Graphics & Multimedia.
The first year was a total disaster. Seriously. Subcjects were boring, but overwhelming. What’s worse I’m still wondering if any of them was of any use.
My job at that time was quite well paid yet time-consuming and irritating (I will write a separate entry on this matter) and my parents’ marriage was hanging by a thread (and I really don’t feel like writing about it anytime soon).

Some of you might say: you’ve chosen the faculty yourself and it’s boring? Yes, that’s the way it is. I wouldn’t have chosen it if the speciality was different. I don’t know how it looks like in other countries, but here the speciality starts with the second year and the first is meant for all those difficult subjects which will make half of your group change the faculty or school. We had micro- and macroeconomics (yes, separete subject for each), mathematic analysis, statistics (which continues) and other mostly mathematic oriented stuff. Blah.
The only subjects which might be considered more or less useful were Databases and Programming. Unfortunately we did not learn how to use databases on websites and the only programming language we got to know was Pascal, which is out of use anyway.

Fortunately, this losing streak ended with the first year. On the second, we started our speciality and at last something worth our attention appeared in our schedules.
Few examples:

- Computer Graphics and Multimedia, which can be also known as Game Developing :). It seemed quite great at the beginning, but now it’s just a mess. Our tutor wanted to show us every possible way of creating games and you know how it is: when you learn all you know nothing.
Well, learning various techniques might sound good, but the goal of this subject is to create a video game. And how on Earth are we supposed to do that if we have only basics in few techniques? He knew that most of us (if not all) will use Flash to create it, but we had only +/- 2 hours connected with Flash. Marvelous.
As for the game itself, here’s our groups plan: we want it to be in Silent Hill-ish dark climate (anyone surprised?). FPP (First Person Perspective) with logical riddles. Escape type, probably. Well that’s the plan, we will see if we will be able to create it.
We are sure that the main character will be female and that there will also appear a second, male, character who is based on… I know, no one who knows me would ever guess ;), on Ran/Aya Fujimiya in Side B version <3 <3 <3. *cough*
I’ll post the game here if it gets decent enough ;D.

- Webdesign: another subject which seemed ok at the beggining, but turned out not so great.
Of course, we had to start with basics. Waste of time, seriously. I’m not the best coder, but in times when designs are based on div/css we were supposed to create iframe.
It got even better when PHP started. All we did were few forms. None of them was really useful, not to mention the fact that if you use action=”mailto:” it will not work. You need a PHP script wchich will send the messege to you. And those are not empty words, I created such form like two weeks ago ;D. Though I used a tutorial found in the internet and not school materials.
The tutor didn’t even show us how to use includes. And it’s like the most basic thing ever. Or is that only my opinion? x_x”
[EDIT:] I forgot to mention one thing, which can be considered as the most positive side of this classes: course of Flash for idiots ;D, so the tutor showed us, step by step, how to make few basic effects. When we had Flash on CG&M it was like “click here, here, here and here and poof! it works!” and half of the group was like “WTF has just happened? O_O”. Yup. That’s us.
Of course, the materials we got are done in such weird and hazy way that if you don’t have your own notes, you’ll probably not know what to do anyway. But still, it was a good start :).[/EDIT]

- Multimedia Devices. The only subject hardware oriented so far. I really like our tutor and classes are even more interesting. It’s one of those subjects which you just want to learn, because you know it will be useful in the future. Not only will you be able to choose the best TV or monitor for your needs, but also show your boss a way to lower electricity bills ;).
We also had calsses about tablets. I was the one responsible for the devices, meaning: I took two tablets with me, personal and borrowed from work ;D. I’m not really a show-off type, but my lovely tablet is Wacom Intuos3 A3 <3 and I just had to take it with me ;D. I might not have skills, but I have the hardware… and it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t prefer it the other way round, but oh well.

And the worse part of this year? Except from all those economy-oriented subjects there’s the worse one: English. No, I don’t have any problems with it, it’s the opposite. My group, the most “advanced” group, is on intermediate level. I graduated high scholl on advanced level. Intermediate is two levels lower.
Ok, my English is not perfect, but for god’s sake! Intermediate? How many times am I supposed to “learn” what’s the diference between Present Perfect and Present Simple? It’s not a primary school. I really thought that since it’s Informatics, which is BASED on English, this level will be higher. I’d really be happy if we were on Upper-Intermediate, because it’s much harder than Advanced, but no. The best group is on a level I were in junior high.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I like this 3rd term. I really do. It just makes me mad that I learned much more from on-line tutorials and at work than at school. I mean, Uni. Well, whatever.
